Robert Keil received his doctor’s degree in art history at the University of Vienna in 1983. Afterwards he worked as an expert in the Viennese auction house Dorotheum. In 1987 he founded his own business as an art dealer and specialized in the field of drawings from the 16th to the 19th century, in paintings from the 16th to the 18th century and in portrait miniatures. Over the years the range was expanded by international artists of the 20th century. Kunsthandel Dr. Keil is regularly taking part in renowed art fairs such as the Kunst und Antiquitätenmesse (fair for art and antiquities) in Vienna (Hofburg) and Salzburg (Residenz), or, in the field of modern art, at the Art Austria.
Besides writing reviews for international art magazines, scientific essays and books (please see item Amartis for further information on published books) and cooperational work on catalogues, Robert Keil is holding tutorials at the University of Vienna/department of art history. Robert Keil is member of CINOA and the Austrian art dealer’s association.
